Verdict: First Day of Class

Well. yesterday was my first day of class. Mondays and Wednesdays are my longest days because I have 6 straight hours of classes from 8 am to 2 pm. But I honestly love my classes. I go to English 150 with Professor Izant at 8. He was so wonderful and kept my attention the entire time which was phenomenal, and he is young so its easy to relate to him. My second class is Physical Science, which is taught by Professor Hart. He is funny and really knows how to teach and grab attention. I will like his science class. My third class is Doctrine and Covenants which I think will be my favorite class just because I love the book (its my favorite of all the standard works) and My teacher starts each class with a song and a prayer. I loved that. It was entirely unfamiliar but at the same time super thrilling. Also, yesterday we didnt have much to do because most of our hallmates went to see a movie, but my roommate Megan and I decided to hang out with our good guy friends, Skyler and Brandon. WE played Frsibee for a while then decided we were hungry. So we walked about a mile until we passed this pizza place that I absolutely had to have some of... i was starving. I had skipped lunch and dinnner. haha. But we got there and ordered the pizza. Skyler and Brandon left to walk to a grocery store. So Megan and I were left in the pizza place with the one guy that worked there. His name is Ron, and he was a middle-aged man who looked lonely. So we struck up conversation with him. Ron apparently died in a car accident in 1994. It was a story to hear, and I asked him about his religious affiliation. He claimed he had none, and that God had said no, that he didnt need a religion. So I took the opportunity to try to penetrate that barrier and let the spirit speak to him through my testimony. So Megan followed me, and we finally left the pizza place about 3 and a half hours of intense interrogation and religious discussion. I felt so at peace as we left, because Brandon and SKyler had been gone about an hour, but when they got back they began teaching him also. So, we have no clue what was going through his head... All I know is that the spirit was so strong as we were talking with him, and I felt is so strongly that as I bore my testimony of the Savior, I began to weep. I have not had an experience like that until last night. I loved each moment of it. One thing is for sure, D&K pizza will have frequent visits from the four of us. :)

Today, Tuesday.... I have absolutely no classes. So I am going to catch up on my homework and do a few other things like laundry. I was supposed to hike to the Y, but that got cancelled. So I dont know whats in store... maybe another day of missionary work? I hope so, I could sure get used to that.

Freshman Orientation

Wellllll. Im here. FINally. BYUUUU!!! wooo hooo.

haha wellp. I got here on Friday morning at 10 am. I checked in and walked around the wilk center to the bookstore until the program started! Then there was a devotional at which some very good speakers explained the importance of a BYU education and becoming a disciple scholar! I got to hear Sister Susan Tanner's husband speak to the group. It was a great experience. Then they divided us up into Y groups which are boys and girls grouped together because of where they are dorming. The girls on my hall got grouped up with the Budge 1200 boys. THey are just adorable. There are three really awesome guys in our group: Brady, Brandon, and Skyler. WE have had some major laughs! So then we just went around in our Y groups and learned stuff about the campus. THe experience was awesome. That night there was this awesome little dance where they taught us dances from other countries; haha xcept there was a country western.

Saturday! WEll Saturday started at 8 am with a devotional from the University. Then we went on a tour of the campus to learn where all our classes are. I had so much fun learning about the school because I honestly didnt know that much about it! Then I left campus with my family and headed to Provo Canyon and a few other places like the mall... haha duh. I cant go without finding the mall. After that I came back here for the major dance/extravaganza. The first part was the dating game which I cant even explain but it was amazing! haha. THen we watched an amatuer magic show. He stunk but I'll give him props because he cut a chick in half... that was alright... hahaha. Maybe I shouldnt be so picky with my magicians. :) Then there was about 30 minutes of dancing outside which was soooo awesome!!! I had a GRate time. but yup. Im here.

Its Sunday morning... I am about to get ready for church. This is the verdict... I LOVE IT HERE!
BYU has grown on me... I can honestly say that I am thrilled. Wish me luck. Im in the 152nd ward!

Hiking and Frolicking Around

Well. Ive been quite busy here recently! Jason took me up the Ogden canyon and we hiked to the top of this gorgeous waterfall. It was absolutely beautiful! It took about 15 minutes to climb the 1 and a half mile hike to the top! But it was soo worth it! I love how pretty the views are from the mountiains! WE could see for miles and miles... all over Ogden and even to Layton and Roy. It was awesome! Then we climbed to the top of another mountain to go to the U on the Uintah mountain range. WElp. After that we got bored and went to play a completely competitive game of Soccer. I won. of course!!!

Today, my cousins and I went to the mall and looked around until I found the perfect shirt and flip-fl0ps... haha shoppin is da bomb. Its been a blast being here in Utah.

Im heading down to the Y on Friday morning with my Uncle Jonathan and his family. That will be super Fun!!!

Im going to bed now! More on Utah later... peace!

Rock Climbing :)

Last night Jason took my cousin and I rock climbing at the I-Rock in downtown Ogden. It was soo much fun! A great time, but I have a confession! Im afraid to climb... because Im deathly afraid of heights. I got about 20 feet in the air and realized that after I looked down, I had a bad case of the shakes and couldnt move a muscle... I completely froze. My head spun and then I was falling. Welll until the slack got out of my rope and then I was hanging and swinging... I managed to hit my head on a rock! haha. Funn times. Then we climbed up onto this 13 foot rock. and we had to jump back down onto these 4 foot think pads... Well it took me 20 mins to jump because each time I tried, I felt nauseus. Anywho...

SElica, my cousin, climbed the whole 67 feet to the top, x3!!! it was crazy... she only weighs 100 lbs tho. lol. Thats probably why. We had so much fun! So we owe Jason a big thanks for paying and taking us!

Safely in Utah.

Today is my third day in Utah and my oh my has it been eventful. I got here after a 6 hr flight and well it was a really long day after that. I didnt crawl into bed until... 1 am... which is 3 am my original time!

Thursday; well my grandmother, selica, and I went on the train from ogden to Salt Lake City. That was a great trip! We had soo much fun. We went around the temple, and took a tour of the beehive house. Also we ate at the new Nauvoo cafe. That was a beautiful time. Something else, very interesting happened... I ran into Sister Gordon, who happens to be the mother of Elder Gordon who served in our ward and baptized Elizabeth. :) She was so thrilled to meet me and since they live in Provo, she invited me to her house every Sunday at 6 for Family Dinner! I left with an address and 3 phone numbers; along with 2 email addresses. I was ecstatic for the remainder of the day! That was Thursday.

Friday; I dropped my grandma off at the temple.... and went back to the house for a nice run. Wow so I underestimated the thin air here!!! I couldnt run more than 3 miles... it was sad. Me and Selica went on a run to Walmart, Target, Ulta, Home Depot... haha the list goes on. We passed the time. Then Grandma and her boyfriend, Orrin took us bowling. Well while we were bowling I met this guy, he asked me if I would let him take me on a tour of Ogden. So we are going golfing tomorrow afternoon. That will be fun!

The mountains are most definitely the best part of Utah... its absolutely gorgeous here.

I'll post pics from my laptop next week. This week Im using the fam. comp. So I should get off before they beat me. Much love.

Pool Partay

yupppppp. pool parties, beach days, and the incredible times spent with friends. its summer.

Well last night the group headed over to my house for a nice, refreshing swim after the awesome steak dinner that Bishop had given for scripture masteries! I drove over with Nick; then Allie brought Kamilla and Jake along. Mckay arrived after most of the fun had been committed! But we still had a blast! It was a great going away get together, sad but awesome in the least.

The belly flop contest between Nick and Jake was definitely a success and left the two boys with quite sore stomachs. Jake, pictured above was definitely a top finalist with his giant splash!

Nick also did well in trying his belly flop! He might still be a little sore from the landing! Then we all goofed around and tried to have the most fun that we could! Which allowed us to end up playing phase 10 until 11 at night! Some of us get a little competitive but everything works out in the end!

Last Day at the Beach before I leave.

Well today was my last day at the beach before I leave for school and my oh my... it was breathtakingly amazing. But it was completely sad because I will miss all of my friends and the great times we've shared at Isle of Palms. Luckily its gotten a lot warmer than it was in March.

Today was so beautiful and I got this new camera which takes AMAZING photos!!! My hair looks so absolutely red in this picture and well sorry Nick but the camera still makes you look goofy. haha Im totally kidding. But I will definitely miss him and his family when I leave.

It was a great day to be at the beach; and I cant wait to come back next summer and be here for all the fun. So long South Carolina! Hello.... utah...

So Its exactly a week until I fly out of Columbia!?!?! oh my... soooo soon. oh well. its needed.

I will miss you all in South Carolina. I love you all. But beware Utah, I hate you. Well I hate your state and most of all that comes with it. Its nothing personal, well maybe it is but still. :P
